He's the only gay member of his family – at least as far as he knows - and has come out to one of his cousins only. He doesn't think it'd fly very well in his family or with the Aurors. He dates women off and on, but never goes farther than a chaste good-night kiss at the end of the date. In his seventh year, as he was struggling with his sexual identity, he met an older man at the Hog's Head. They had sex and this man is still Kingsley's off and on sexual partner to date. They both agree on this casual, but needed relationship. The man is married and his identity is something Kingsley will never reveal. Pet(s)/Familiar: His eagle owl Tyche. Sexual Orientation: Gay Personality: Kingsley is outgoing, with a dry sense of humor. He's very friendly, but can count friends in one hand with fingers to spare. He'll talk to a lot of people, but is very reserved about his personal life. He's the kind of person who gets invited to a lot of events because he's good-natured, but who doesn't let people get too close. He's very concerned about appearances in general. Takes very good care of himself, exercises a lot and likes to look good. Strengths: Brave and with a strong sense of justice. Good at dueling and wandless magic. Weaknesses: Sees life in black and white: his side is good, the other is not and should be done with. Not good in Transfiguration or Charms – thinks they're for birds. He's also a bit too vain. Likes: Being an Auror, fighting for what he thinks is right Dislikes: Dark Arts, Death Eaters, lies Habits: He follows a strict routine: wakes up early, exercises for about one hour, showers, eats a hearty breakfast and either goes to work (on weekdays) or reads the paper from top to bottom. At work, he pours himself into it and is never the first to leave. He comes back at night, cooks dinner and reads a good book before going to bed. On Thursdays nights he has his rendez-vous with his male lover at the Hog's Head. Saturdays and Sundays he spends with his family. He's a compulsively clean and tidy person: his house looks almost sterile and unlived in. History: Has an extended family, a rather close-knit group. Father Mac was an Auror, mother Maura was a Healer. She had a hard time conceiving and, when she finally got pregnant with Kingsley, she quit her job. The Shacklebolts are comfortable financially, but not wealthy. Kingsley lives by himself in a two-bedroom flat near Diagon Alley. His family, although purebloods, knows very little about Muggles. Kingsley had Muggle friends at school, but was never very interested in learning much about the Muggle way of life. It'll be a surprise to him when he's chosen to be the bodyguard of the Muggle PM two years later. He'll go through a crash course and, like the good Ravenclaw he is, will learn his lesson well. Kingsley was a Prefect from 5th year on. He also played Quidditch: due to his size and strength, he was a Beater and had average talent. He always wanted to be an Auror and did well in school. He joined the Auror training program under Mad-Eye Moody, in what he describes was the most gruesome time of his life. But he agrees that that was what separated the boys from the men, and wouldn't have it any other way. He's done well with the Aurors and is one of the senior Aurors at the time of the Triwizard Tournament. He enjoys a good pint of beer and, when the occasion calls for it, a glass of good red wine. But he's not that much of a drinker and abhors the idea of smoking. He's a hearty eater and can cook a decent meal. He much prefers to cook his own food to eating out by himself. Kingsley's deepest secret is that he would love to have a child, but knows he won't. He'd never have sex with a woman just for this reason, and he doesn't see how a single gay man would be allowed to adopt a child. He's currently been pressured by his family to settle down.
